The Justice and Equity Centre has made a submission to the Select Committee on Intergenerational Housing Inequity.
Our submission shares the views of people with lived experience of homelessness or housing instability, with contributions from members of our two lived experience advisory groups:
- StreetCare
- the Lived Experience Committee for the Housing and Mental Health Agreement
We highlight how access to housing is deeply inequitable and makes recommendations for reform, including:
- enshrining the right to adequate housing into legislation,
- a significant, continued increase in social housing, and
- a National Housing and Homelessness Plan with increased funding for homelessness services.
