Congratulations to StreetCare member Tony, who was recently recognised with a Sector Achievement Award from Homelessness NSW for his lived experience advocacy.
As a committed member of StreetCare, a group of lived experience advocates supported by the JEC, Tony has had a profound impact on improving the lives of people facing homelessness. Using his own lived experience, he has influenced decision-makers on housing and homelessness issues, contributing to lasting reforms.
‘From speaking to the media to sharing his story with parliamentarians and government officials, Tony helps people understand the human impact of policy decisions,’ says the StreetCare Project Officer Charmaine Jones. ‘This motivates them to support necessary reform, improving the lives of many people who access housing and homelessness supports.’
