A faster and cheaper transition to zero emissions energy means energy resources need to be deployed more efficiently, and there’s the potential to save households billions of dollars along the way. The Integrated System Plan (ISP) is a critical tool for this.

Our rule change proposal to the Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) can help make this happen.

That’s why we’ve proposed changes to the ISP that shift the focus from transmission only, to planning that can include all resources in the energy system – including generation, storage, transmission, distribution, consumer energy resources (CER) and demand participation – and recommend the most efficient, fastest and cheapest solution.

What’s next?

The AEMC will decide whether to consider our proposal and run a consultation process. The commission is also conducting an ongoing review of the ISP in 2026, and we’ll be engaging closely with this and related processes as it progresses.
