Our submission relates to accidents involving e-scooters and injuries to pedestrians, as well as issues with the parking of e-scooters blocking access in public spaces – issues which disproportionately impact people with disability. As existing legal mechanisms, including anti-discrimination laws, are not sufficient to ensure the safety of people with disability, our submission emphasised the need for the NSW Government to develop an effective and enforceable regulatory framework which promotes safety and accessibility of shared spaces. We also highlighted the importance of ensuring accident compensation measures are adequate to protect pedestrians in the event of e-mobility related accidents.
