2SER: How criminal systems have shaped First Nations lives

New research by Towards Truth explores how criminal laws and policing have impacted First Nations people in New South Wales since 1788.

Towards Truth is a truth-telling partnership between the Justice and Equity Centre and the UNSW Indigenous Law Centre.

This latest research shows how First Nations people were targeted by laws designed to control them from the early days of colonisation. And how contemporary policing practices contribute to shocking rates of First Nations people being arrested and imprisoned.

Kate Sinclair, Dharug woman and solicitor at the Justice and Equity Centre, joined 2SER Breakfast to discuss new research that highlights how criminal systems have shaped First Nations lives since the start of colonisation.
