Qantas has been grilled over its loss of public trust following the airline’s selling of tickets for already cancelled flights.

In a parliamentary hearing on Monday, senator Bridget McKenzie abrasively questioned Qantas and Virgin Australian executives as the airlines argue against a passenger compensation scheme for cancelled flights in line with Europe and Canada.

Justice and Equity Centre representatives said one-in-five Australians had a disability, and flight cancellations for those people brought ‘particularly acute’ concerns.
