2SER: Australia’s emergency evacuation response is failing people with disability

Australian teenager Sean Senbel-Lynch is suing the Australian Government after he was left stranded for days in Vanuatu following the 2024 earthquake.

Sean has cerebral palsy, a visual impairment and epilepsy. And he says he was discriminated against because of his disability when he was not allowed on any of the Australian Defence Force evacuations flights that took hundreds of other Australians safely home.

The Justice and Equity Centre (JEC) is representing Sean in his legal battle. JEC Senior Solicitor Nicola Colagiurijoined 2SER Breakfast to discuss.
