Simon is a consultant at Chalk & Behrendt, advising Local Aboriginal Land Councils, and is an Emeritus Professor of Law at the University of Sydney, where he was previously Kim Santow Professor of Law and Social Justice.
He is an expert in human rights law, and in anti-discrimination and equal opportunity law. He has extensive experience in not-for-profit leadership, governance and strategy, particularly in community legal centres, and is currently a board member of the NSW Council of Social Service.
