Jan has been a Policy Officer in the Justice and Equity Centre’s Energy and Water Justice team since May 2022. He works across a range of areas including energy planning, renewables, and climate change policy to ensure people’s needs are met by clean, resilient, and efficient energy and water systems.
Before coming to the Justice and Equity Centre, Jan spent four years as a PhD candidate at the University of Sydney’s Environment Institute studying the political economy of Australia’s low-carbon transition. His research focused on the role of clean energy projects in providing income, employment, and empowerment to local communities.
Jan has a Master’s in Environmental Studies (MES) from York University, and a Combined Honour’s (BSc) in Environmental Science and International Development Studies from Dalhousie University.
