Corey Smith is a Ngemba man and lawyer. He is the Project Manager of the Towards Truth project where he is responsible for leading truth-telling research on laws and policies that have impacted First Nations in Australia since 1788.
He joined the Justice and Equity Centre in 2021. Previously, Corey worked at an NGO with a focus on education and employment outcomes for First Nations peoples. He also worked at the Centre for Social Impact where he co-authored research on First Nations peoples and the economy.
Corey graduated from UNSW in 2016 with a Bachelor of Laws – LLB and a Bachelor of Arts. He is deeply committed and passionate about social change for Indigenous communities.
