We responded to the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment’s consultation on Infrastructure Safeguard as part of its renewable energy infrastructure plan.

PIAC gave feedback on approaches for stakeholder consultation on the Infrastructure Investment Objectives report, recommending using a NSW-specific panel of consumer stakeholders and providing evidence of where consultation has influenced outcomes.

We strongly supported Renewable Energy Zone access fees being used to reduce the cost of the infrastructure to consumers and to reflect the overall value of the REZ access right to proponents. In line with this, we strongly recommended access fees should be set and applied according to the beneficiaries of the REZ infrastructure, which are largely connecting generators.
