The Public Interest Advocacy Centre respond to the Draft Lower Hunter Water Security Plan.

PIAC was deeply involved in engagement processes underpinning the development of the Plan and welcomed the further progress in the Draft Plan towards strategic water planning that reflects community needs and responds to a changing climate.

PIAC commended the approach taken to develop the plan and broadly supported the responses it outlines. We raised some issues with how fully preferences of the community and the priorities established to shape the plan have been reflected in some aspects of the proposed responses. Particularly in relation to the implementation of recycled water, there is a need for more concrete implementation actions.
