PIAC made a submission to the consultation by the federal Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) on its implementation design paper for Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS) Expansion.

PIAC supports the expansion of the CIS, which underwrites risk for new renewable generation and storage projects. Specifically, we think it should be expanded to include demand response investments, which have an outsized impact on reliability outcomes when compared dollar for dollar with new generation.
