Submission

PIAC provided a submission in response to the Commonwealth Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water’s Consultation Paper on the First Nations Clean Energy Strategy.

PIAC strongly supports the development and implementation of a national First Nations Clean Energy Strategy which is informed, shaped and implemented through the direct involvement of First Nations stakeholders and communities.

Our submission supported the work and perspectives of the First Nations Clean Energy Network and other First Nations’ stakeholder who were involved in the community roundtables that informed the consultation paper. We reiterated our position that the Strategy should be led and informed by First Nations perspectives and needs.

We provided particular comment on access to energy, pre-payment systems and efficient electrification of First Nations housing.
