PIAC made a submission on AER’s draft customer export curtailment value (CECV) methodology. The methodology responds to an AEMC determinations intended to integrate distributed energy resources into the grid more efficiently.

We highlighted that some curtailment of consumer energy exports is part of efficient integration of DER and essential to limiting excessive expenditure on electricity networks that outweighs the benefit to consumers. We provided recommendations regarding how efficient export curtailment can be shaped by consumer preferences, and retain necessary protections for consumers.
