Submission to AER Basslink conversion application

Resource type:
Submission

The JEC made a submission to the Australian Energy Regulator’s consultation paper on APA’s application for Basslink to be converted from a merchant transmission service provider to a regulated, prescribed transmission network service provider.

The JEC opposed the proposal on the grounds that there was inadequate evidence to support the proposition that conversion would be in the interests of both APA and consumers.

We reiterated our long-held principles that risks associated with transmission investment are appropriately managed by those best placed to do so, and that unreasonable costs and risks should not be transferred to consumers.
