Submission to AEMC – Amending the Administered Price Cap

PIAC made a submission to the AEMC’s proposed rule change to temporarily increase the administered price cap.

PIAC did not support the proposed rule, which we regarded as premature and potentially unnecessary.  We argued that the AEMC should not increase the APC without completing an investigation into the role of generator behaviour in the challenges resulting from the June 2022 APP events and without undertaking comprehensive and transparent analysis into impacts on consumers and retailers.
