PIAC lodged a submission in response to IPART’s draft determination on Central Coast Councils prices for water, sewerage and related services.

PIAC broadly supports the draft determination, and agrees with the balance that IPART has struck between consistency and equity in pricing, affordability, and cost-reflectivity. However, the draft determination highlights a number of issues which require more fundamental, long-term solutions that address:

  • Inconsistency of access to support rebates for water consumers served by different utilities
  • Inconsistency in the level of support offered to rebate consumers served by different utilities
  • Ongoing inefficiencies and inequity in cost recovery from consumers in retirement villages
