The COAG-sponsored rule change proposes to introduce new definitions, improved negotiation and dispute resolution processes, and increased transparency into the connection and planning of transmission networks. The rule change is in response to a recent transmission connection framework review. PIAC supported these changes as they would improve price transparency and reduce costs and time frames for generators connecting to the transmission network. These changes are necessary not just to improve clarity across the jurisdiction, but also to facilitate the connection of large-scale renewable generation to the network.
