Joint Submission on Unfair Trading Practices

Resource type:
Submission

The JEC was a co-signatory to a joint consumer advocate submission to Commonwealth Treasury’s consultation paper on the design of proposed general and specific prohibitions on unfair trading practices. The submission was led by the Consumer Policy Research Centre (CPRC) and supported by the JEC’s Energy and Water Justice team.

The submission demonstrated the breadth of unfair practices that exist across different industries in Australia and highlighted how these are not currently being adequately captured by existing consumer protections. The submission provided a range of recommendations that, if implemented, would better protect consumers across Australia.
