Submission to the inquiry into the Crimes Amendment (Prohibiting the Strip Searching of Children) Bill
Our submission supports the Bill, which seeks to prohibit the strip searching of children under the age of 18. We endorsed the submission and recommendations put forward by Redfern Legal Centre, who argued that strip searches are ineffective, improperly discriminatory, often misused and extremely harmful and traumatic to the children who are subjected to them.…

The Climate Change Authority’s (CCA) work in advising the Commonwealth Government is key to maximising emissions reduction and enabling a rapid and fair transition. We recommend prioritising actions that that consider both emissions budgets and near-term emissions reduction.

Reforms that improve outcomes for NSW residents of embedded networks are well overdue. We support changes to pricing protections that target the significant inequities households on embedded networks face, and urge IPART to focus implementation on prioritising better outcomes for them.

Creating a just gas transition
As consumer advocates in the energy sector, we saw an opportunity to change the assumptions about the future of gas networks and how best to serve the interests of energy consumers. This meant making sure the regulatory framework is doing its part to enable a fair energy transition.
