The Integrated System Plan (ISP) is the roadmap for the transition of the National Electricity Market (NEM) power system. It is intended to guide an efficient, least cost energy transition that keeps supply reliable.

That’s why we supported changes that increase transparency and accuracy of cost inputs in the ISP in our response to the Australian Energy Market Commission’s (AEMC) Clarifying the Treatment of Jurisdictional Polices and System Costs in the ISP consultation paper.

We also supported the fundamental purpose of the ISP and its emissions reduction objectives and recognised how government emissions reduction policy is an important expression of the democratically expressed preferences of the community.

What’s next?

We will continue our long term work to ensure the ISP is fit for purpose now and the future. This includes engaging in the upcoming ISP review and submitting a rule change proposal to the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), around more efficiency in co-optimise investments in generation, storage, distribution, transmission and demand side developments.
