Stephenie Cahalan

Stephenie joined the Justice and Equity Centre in 2025 as the philanthropy lead. She has extensive experience in for-purpose organisations, most recently with the Aboriginal Land Council of Tasmania managing the Truth Telling at Wybalenna project on Flinders Island. 

Stephenie engages her writing, research, and fundraising expertise to support advocacy for social justice and the environment, and arts organisations. Past roles include communications manager at the Tasmanian Land Conservancy and development manager at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery.

Stephenie holds a Master of Arts (Journalism, Media, and Communications) from the University of Tasmania and a PhD on the history of philanthropy and bequests in Australia from the University of Sydney.

She has published two books examining people power and legacy. Stephenie is passionate about building community capacity to achieve First Nations’, social and environmental justice.
