Sophie Leaver

Sophie Leaver is a Senior Solicitor with our Strategic Litigation team, working primarily on issues related to policing, prisons and detention.

Before joining the JEC, Sophie worked as a Senior Lawyer at the Australian Human Rights Commission, where she conducted inquiries into human rights breaches in immigration detention. She has also worked as a solicitor at Redfern Legal Centre, in the police accountability and administrative law team, and in civil litigation, with a focus on intentional torts and historical child sex abuse matters. 

Sophie is a NSW co-convenor of Australian Lawyers for Human Rights. She is also completing a masters in Forced Migration and Refugee Studies through the University of London.
