Kate Bittar

Kate joined the Justice and Equity Centre in the Homeless Persons’ Legal Service in October 2025. As Criminal Solicitor in the Women’s Service, Kate provides criminal law assistance to women who have experienced domestic and family violence (DFV). She has a particular focus on the policing and criminalisation of victim-survivors of DFV.

Previously, Kate was the Senior Solicitor in the Women’s Bail Advocacy Program at the Aboriginal Legal Service (NSW/ACT). Kate has also worked as a Solicitor and Coordinator of the Custody Notification Service at the Aboriginal Legal Service (NSW/ACT) and was the Associate to Judge Mahony SC at the District Court of New South Wales.

Kate has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Sydney and a Juris Doctor in Law from the University of New South Wales.
