The Sri Lankan civil war a decade on

‘While the Australian nation was transfixed by the federal election on May 18 a tragic anniversary rolled by unnoticed.

‘May 18 marked a decade since the civil war in Sri Lanka ended.

‘After twenty five years of bloodshed the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam were defeated mid-May 2009 by Sri Lankan Government forces.

‘And in the 10 years since there’s been no proper investigation of the atrocities carried out by various parties to the conflict.’
