HPLS Solicitor Jeremy Rea wins Bondie Award

Congratulations to Jeremy Rea, Senior Solicitor Advocate with our Homeless Persons’ Legal Service (HPLS). In June 2025, Jeremy received the Bondie Award at Legal Aid Gala, recognising his outstanding work as a criminal defence lawyer.

The Bondie Award honours the late Greg Bond, a stalwart Aboriginal Legal Service solicitor renowned for his deep commitment to justice for First Nations clients.

‘I am honoured to have received this award, recognising all the hard work HPLS and I have done for the clients and the assistance we provide to the Courts,’ Jeremy said.

‘The award recognises how complex these cases can be and the need for our clients to be properly represented.’

‘I’m proud to be part of a legacy honouring Greg Bond and his tireless advocacy for First Nations Peoples.’

Jeremy has worked as the Solicitor Advocate at HPLS since the position was created in 2008. During that time he has helped thousands of people with legal representation, often helping to divert them from the justice system.

The criteria for the Bondie award include an exceptional commitment to clients and social justice, and a sense of humility and quietness in achievement. Those who know Jeremy and his work will know he fits the bill perfectly.
