Access to justice
A fair and effective legal system is fundamental to a just society.
The Justice and Equity Centre advocates for a legal system that everyone in our community can understand and access. We provide oversight of government and legal institutions, to demand transparency and accountability.
Since 1982, we have been a leader in promoting equitable access to justice. Our recent work includes urging reform to Freedom of Information laws to create broader and more timely release of government information, ensuring better access to the Courts through fairer regulation of legal costs in discrimination matters, improving the protection of personal and data privacy, and improving systems for reviewing administrative decisions by government.
