Solicitor Petra Franks joined 2SER to discuss our work to improve energy access for First Nations communities in the Northern Territory. Many First Nations people are on pre-paid energy arrangements, which are more likely to be disconnected. But government agencies and energy providers aren’t collecting and publishing data on disconnections of those households.
Petra talked about our collaboration with First Nations organisations, energy advocates and civil society groups in the First Nations Clean Energy Network, which is calling for changes to help prevent disconnections and keep people safer.
