2SER: How New Hate Crime Laws Fail To Protect LGBTIQ+ People

The Minns Government has introduced new hate speech laws to NSW Parliament, with new offences and tougher penalties intended to reduce racial hatred.

However, there are concerns the laws will criminalise peaceful protest near places of worship and will leave some groups, including LGBTIQ+ people, not protected against hatred and violence.

Alastair Lawrie, Director of Policy and Advocacy at the Justice and Equity Centre, joined 2SER Breakfast to discuss.
