Excerpt from the ABC Radio Segment:
While Emma Bennison, who is blind, was travelling recently she organised a ‘meet and assist’ with a Jetstar staff member, after flying into an interstate airport.
Ms Bennison was taken to their disability seating area, which she described as “very uncomfortable with very hard seats”. The team member told Ms Bennison that they would be back to collect her soon. She was then abandoned in an airport for over an hour and a half while waiting for them to return.
“I tried to attract the attention of passers-by… but I just wasn’t able to get anyone’s attention. In desperation, I ended up calling my travel agent and asking them to please contact the airline who then contacted Melbourne Airport, who sent someone to find me.”
