Submission to DCCEEW Draft National Energy Equity Framework

The JEC made a submission to Commonwealth DCCEEW’s Draft National Energy Equity Framework. The Framework seeks to establish a common approach for improving equity outcomes in the energy retail market.

The JEC supports the intent to create a consistent, robust framework to drive more equitable policy and outcomes in energy. However, our submission highlighted how and why the current draft is not fit for purpose. We provided an overview of how to achieve equity both in and through energy policy, and provided feedback on how the draft can be improved to facilitate better outcomes for energy consumers. In its’ current iteration, the draft would not achieve the desired equity outcomes.
