9 News: Disadvantaged kids unfairly targeted by $5000 Covid fines, report finds

Marginalised children were unfairly issued Covid fines during the height of the pandemic in New South Wales, a report has claimed.

Children who were Indigenous, had cognitive impairments and were homeless or living in unsafe home environments were disproportionately targeted, according to research by academics from three universities in Sydney.

The research was commissioned by the Aboriginal Legal Service, Redfern Legal Service and the Public Interest Advocacy Centre and conducted by academics from the University of Wollongong, University of New South Wales and University of Technology.
