PIAC responded to the AER issues papers on the 2024-29 revenue proposals for Ausgrid, Endeavour, and Essential Energy.

Networks are expected to ensure their regulatory proposals reflect community preferences and promote the long-term interests of consumers. We commend the NSW network businesses for making meaningful strides in their commitment to consumer engagement and the quality of that engagement during this reset. Our submission highlights where progress has been made and flags areas for improvement across key issues ranging from consumer energy resources and tariffs to climate resilience and metering.

While NSW network businesses have markedly improved their consumer engagement programs for the 2024-29 period, good engagement culture and practice must continue to develop and evolve to ensure that businesses are making decisions shaped by people and communities. In our submission, we provide recommendations to promote more transparent, robust, and meaningful network engagement.
