PIAC made a submission to the AEMC’s 2022 Review of the reliability standards and settings Draft report.

Our submission highlighted feedback from consumers and other stakeholders supporting retaining the current form of Unserved Energy (USE), and level of 0.002%, for the Standard.  PIAC has engaged with consumer and community groups, specifically on the Reliability Standard (the Standard) and more generally on related matters. Feedback from these stakeholders has consistently noted there is no pressing issue with reliability and that current reliability effectively exceeds the standard. Any changes or increases to the standard risk unreasonable additional costs to consumers, without additional benefit.
