Ed SantowEdward Santow

Edward Santow has been Human Rights Commissioner at the Australian Human Rights Commission since August 2016. Ed leads the Commission’s work on technology and human rights; refugees and migration; human rights issues affecting LGBTI people; counter-terrorism and national security; freedom of expression; freedom of religion; and implementing the Optional Protocol to the Convention Against Torture.

Brandon BearBrandon Bear

Brandon Bear is the Manager, Policy, Strategy and Research at ACON, and is a Board Associate for the Aurora Foundation. He has previously worked at the Council for Intellectual Disability, Batyr and Yfoundations, and has been a board member of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, the Youth Action Policy Association and the NSW Association for Youth Health.

 

Dr Mary O'SullivanDr Mary O’Sullivan

Mary O’Sullivan is a NSW Executive Committee Member of the Women’s Electoral Lobby (WEL). Mary has a long record of activism on behalf of women, and has worked on submissions and campaigns to highlight the lack of affordable housing for older women, the issue of elder abuse, and most recently reproductive health and the decriminalisation of abortion in NSW.

 

Dr Deirdre PalmerDr Deidre Palmer

Deidre Palmer is President of the Uniting Church in Australia, and has represented the Uniting Church’s response to the Religious Discrimination Bill Exposure Draft. Deidre is also a social worker, and has previously served as Moderator of the Uniting Church in South Australia and on the faculty of leading academic institutions, including the Flinders University School of Theology.

Simon Rice3 1Professor Simon Rice

Simon Rice is a Professor of law at the University of Sydney Law School. He has previously chaired the ACT Law Reform Advisory Council and advised the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights. Simon has also been Director of the NSW Law Foundation, President of Australian Lawyers for Human Rights, and a practicing solicitor specialising in anti-discrimination law.
