PIAC’s submission in response to the Consultation Draft Transport for NSW Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2017-2021 suggests a number of improvements to ensure public transport services are more accessible for and inclusive of people with disability.

This includes recommendations for independent audits of audible announcements on Sydney Trains, and the roll-out of automated audible announcements on regional NSW Trains, and on metropolitan bus services. This builds on previous strategic litigation in which PIAC played a leading role.

Following consultation with People With Disability Australia, Vision Australia, Blind Citizens NSW and Guide Dogs NSW/ACT, the submission also makes a range of other comments about additional issues, including bus stop design and accessibility, train station upgrades, taxi access at Sydney Airport, training and specific employment targets.
