PIAC provided a submission in response to the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal’s (IPART) Draft Report on the Future of Embedded Networks in NSW.
PIAC supported the direction of the Draft as it seeks to better ensure positive consumer outcomes for residents of embedded networks in NSW. People living in embedded networks currently experience considerable consumer disadvantage and detriment. We were particularly encouraged that IPART has rejected the idea of linking embedded network pricing to the DMO and is instead suggesting to cap prices at the median lowest publicly available offers, to be calculated at 6 month intervals.
While we supported the direction of the paper, we provided further recommendations on how to more effectively promote consumer outcomes through IPART’s review and final decisions.
