Newcastle Herald: Aboriginal families 12 times more likely to experience child removal

Newcastle Family and Children’s Services leaders are calling on the NSW Minister for Families and Communities for more investment into early intervention.

A report by AbSec, the Aboriginal Legal Service, UTS Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education and Research, and the Justice and Equity Centre says that in 2022-23, Aboriginal children were almost 12 times more likely to be placed in out-of-home care than their non-Aboriginal peers.
